tricia + bryan

I was very excited to work with this Tricia & Bryan after hearing about their bright color palette and gardenscape reception location. The couple lives in California, and the only chance I had to meet with Tricia {and planner, Aletha} was at their venue, the Laketown Golf & Conference Center in Saugatuck. I’m glad I made the drive because the location, even though a little secluded, was such a beautiful place for a reception! Seeing it also helped me visualize the details for the day of the wedding.

We created an invitation set with Tricia & Bryan’s 3 colors, using a ribbon double band and a swirl design (now featured as Paul in the Studio Collction, this same design was used on Libby & Paul’s stationery as well!). We also did table numbers, programs, escort cards, favor tags & Thank You notes to round out the ensemble.

One really great decision we made was to tone down the use of colors for her day of stationery. Tricia had decided to get table cloths in her palette, so she had green, pink and a slightly darker magenta colors on the tables. I suggested we do the escort cards and table numbers with a white shimmery backing paper instead of the green or pinks. I think this looked really elegant and did not clash with the table colors.

Aletha from Pearls Events did the planning for this event, helping Tricia find all the right colorful details (like those beautiful flowers from Stems Event Design and Julie Strating for her lovely makeup!)

The day of images were captured by Steven Fox Photography. Make sure to check out their colorful details on the Steven Fox Blog!

jessica + al

Even though I never had the please to actually meet Jessica, I very much enjoyed working with her and her planner on this up north wedding at Bay Harbor Yacht Club.

Anne from Anne Coulter Productions & Isabelle Weddings contacted me to create Jessica’s stunning vision for her day-of stationery. The end result was some lovely letterpress programs, menus, escort cards & table numbers along with a couple different labels for their favors & welcome bags. The design was centered around their monogram with simple, elegant 1-color printing in a charcoal grey.

These lovely images are from Harrison Studio. To see more from Jessica & Al’s day, check out their blog post!

Wedding Album!

I finally feel far enough along to publish a little more info about the Syd Design Wedding Album. It is definitely coming along a little slower than I had hoped with everything else going on here at Syd, but it’s coming along nonetheless.

You will be seeing some sneaky peeks in the current Stationery Trends Interactive Issue, and in the upcoming Spring issue of Stationery Trends. And (drumroll…) you can see the whole package in person at the National Stationery Show in May! {booth #2255}

The album itself is held in an clamshell box that is handmade and covered locally by the talented Wendy at Windy Weather Bindery. There will be a plethora of customizing options including tons of paper, ink color and font choices. Plus each design can be made into different styles (not limited to just flat panels). And more in-depth customization will be easily accessible.

I’m still working out all the details and kinks as this is my first album and I intend to make it fit just snug into my ideal perception (as I do with everything;).

For now, enjoy these photos and take a look at the designs more closely in the Studio Gallery. I’m working diligently to update the gallery with all of the pieces available for each suite, but I hope you can get a good idea of the overall look at least with the main invitation designs.

Contact me if you’re interested in hosting the album in a retail store (or have any tips/comments/suggestions… I’m all ears!!). I won’t have any albums available to ship before NSS, but they will be rolling out soon after.

This couple chose a tiffany blue and ivory for their wedding colors. The simple color combo {with a Paris theme} created a lovely, elegant set with special touches like ribbon bows and favor tags.

The couple planned their Detroit wedding from their home in California, but I still the the pleasure of meeting them one snowy afternoon in Lansing! From this meeting, we worked together over email and the phone to finalize all the little details. In the end, I custom-designed their programs, Thank You’s, favor tags along with their invitation sets.

A fun little side note, this couple was featured last fall on The Price is Right: Engaged Couples segment! They made it all the way to the last 2 in the showdown - how fun!

Congrats on your wedding and your Price is Right winnings, AnnMarie & Michael!

I rarely have a moment during a bridal show to get any good shots of my booth, but last weekend at The Grand Affair was lucky enough to be neighbors with Matt Pratt! He took a second to grab some shots of the show and took the most beautiful shots of my booth & product.

I highly recommend Matt Pratt Photography. Matt’s a talented artist and a super nice guy to be around!!

Excited to share this Kalamazoo wedding not only because I was lucky to get such wonderful images from k. holly photography, but also because I found a surprise love for Kristin’s color combo!

I have never worked with these 2 colors together, and was excited to see how it all came together, which I thought was lovely on the stationery. I especially LOVE the way her colors came together on the wedding day (click to check out her blue j.crew dresses & peach bouquets) with all the other details!

We did square invites with pockets in the back for their RSVP postcard. For the day, we created square programs and escort cards. Note their table numbers - she made these herself out of wood from Home Depot„

Such a beautiful wedding, Kristin & Dan, and many pats on the back for all the lovely details!

All of these photos were shared by Kristin Carlson from k.holly photography. Check out more moments from the day of their wedding on Kristin’s blog.
